Steelers Re-Sign Marquez Valdes-Scantling to Help at Wide Receiver

Marquez Valdes-Scantling has rejoined the Pittsburgh Steelers. The veteran wide receiver was signed to the practice squad this Tuesday as the team prepares to face the New Orleans Saints in Paris. Valdes-Scantling, 32, previously played with the Steelers during part of the 2025 season. During that stint, he recorded 10 receptions for 80 yards and one touchdown over five games, and added three catches in a playoff loss to the Houston Texans.
The move comes as the Steelers deal with injuries at the wide receiver position. Both Michael Pittman Jr. and Roman Wilson were recently placed on injured reserve. This has significantly thinned the experienced options available to quarterback Aaron Rodgers, leaving the team relying on DK Metcalf and rookie Germie Bernard.
Prior to returning to Pittsburgh, Valdes-Scantling was with two other teams. He was let go by the Dallas Cowboys in late August and had a brief stint with the Los Angeles Chargers, where he managed two receptions for 22 yards in three games. Valdes-Scantling has previously played with Rodgers at the Green Bay Packers, accumulating 123 receptions from 2018 to 2021.
