Penguins Acquire Spencer Stastney in Trade with Oilers

The Pittsburgh Penguins have traded forward Filip Hallander to the Edmonton Oilers in exchange for defenseman Spencer Stastney, the team announced on Wednesday. This trade aims to bolster the Penguins’ defensive lineup.
Stastney, 26, joins Pittsburgh after being involved in multiple trades within the last year, including a move from Nashville to Edmonton last December followed by a one-year contract signing with the Oilers in July. Over his career, Stastney has accumulated four goals and 15 assists across 117 NHL games with Edmonton and Nashville.
Hallander, also 26, had shown early promise in the season for Pittsburgh with a goal and two assists in just two games. However, since being drafted in the second round in 2018, Hallander has appeared in only 18 NHL games, facing challenges in securing a regular spot on the team.
